A cooperative digital commons
TiBillet was born in the field, in the festivals and cooperative cafés of Réunion Island. Not in a design office, but from the concrete needs of venues that welcome the public: selling tickets without hidden fees, managing memberships, collecting payments at the bar, and federating agendas between neighbouring organisations.
Today it is a complete toolkit — ticketing, multi-venue NFC cashless, point of sale, local currency, time currency, contributive budget — designed for and by cultural associations. Zero dark patterns, zero hidden fees, open source.
TiBillet is supported by the Coopérative Code Commun (a SCIC with three equal colleges: facilitators, contributors, users). The code is free — but what makes a digital commons is the community around it and the shared governance that drives it.
Inspired by Elinor Ostrom's work: a Git repository with a free licence is not enough. We need a shared resource, a living community, and organised governance. The federal principle is simple — each venue keeps its autonomy (its agenda, its cash register, its memberships) and chooses who to connect with. A single card for multiple venues. A network that grows through encounters, not through marketing.
Features
A complete solution for cultural venues and associations.
Memberships and subscriptions
Manage memberships for your association and offer subscriptions. Track renewals and provide exclusive benefits to members.
Ticketing
Free and paid events with preferential prices for members. No hidden fees, no surprise commission.
Federated agenda
Create a shared calendar and choose the venues to share your events with. Federate your programming with other organizations.
Cash register
Complete solution to manage your on-site sales, with kitchen preparation printers and stock management.
Cashless and NFC card
Cashless system as used at festivals, with membership verification on the card. One card for multiple venues in the network.
Local currency and time
Time currency, gifts and volunteer recognition. Multi-currency on a single card: euros, gifts, time.
Open data
All non-personal data from your venue is accessible via API, using a standard vocabulary (schema.org / JSON-LD), under an open licence. Your events, your programming: free to circulate.
AGPLv3 free software
TiBillet's code is published under the AGPLv3 licence. No one can lock it down, close it, or privatise it. It is the first building block of a digital commons — the Code Commun cooperative does the rest.
Participatory agenda
Receive event proposals from your network via an open form. For each proposal, you choose: publish it on your calendar, or invite the organizer to create their space and join your federation.
Search engine optimisation (SEO)
Each venue page and each event is structured in JSON-LD (schema.org) to be correctly indexed by Google, Bing, and cultural event calendars. Auto-generated sitemap, clean metadata.
TiBillet's future — ongoing projects
Future of TiBillet
What we are building now — come discuss it, contribute or simply express your interest.
Built-in newsletter
Send targeted emails to your up-to-date members, those late on their subscription, or people who attended a specific event. Communication directly linked to your calendar and your member base — no Mailchimp, no third-party tracking.
Unified social networks
Write a message, publish everywhere. We are progressively integrating free multichannel management tools like Postiz to avoid opening five tabs for every announcement.
Fediverse and Mobilizon
Your events are published to Mobilizon and the Fediverse to reach public calendars and Mastodon accounts in your area. Enter once, publish openly and in a decentralised way, independent of proprietary platforms.
Cascade economy
In partnership with cascade.coop: crowdfunding surpluses flow to other cascades in the network. No capture, no loss — a contributive economy among solidarity venues.
Do these ideas resonate with you? To find out more about the ongoing projects, come and discuss with us and declare your interest at codecommun.tibillet.coop/contrib.
